Offering a better choice for retirement living.

Mbark was founded in 2003 by John, Adam and James, friends and work colleagues with a diverse range of technical backgrounds across engineering, development and finance at Macquarie Bank, PwC and ANZ. Their vision was simple; to improve people’s lives by providing better housing solutions during their retirement.

Together, they now have more than 45 years’ experience in creating and operating retirement communities and have been actively involved in the development of the retirement living sector in Australia, having served on the National and State Boards of the Property Council of Australia Retirement Living Council.

It needed to happen

For years we had become aware of people’s frustration at a lack of appealing retirement living options - we read about them in the news, we heard stories of negative experiences from friends, and we saw them first-hand in our own families. We wanted to do something about it and that’s why Mbark was born 15 years ago.

generous & affordable Housing

We soon realised there was a need for environments that provide a modern and secure neighbourhood and which promotes Residents’ wellbeing and a strong sense of community. Since 2003, Mbark has aimed to fill this gap by delivering premium retirement villages with a strong focus on a private, flexible and independent lifestyle that is affordable to local communities.

Making ourselves accessible

From the beginning it was clear that the great benefit of being a family owned business was that it allowed us to be close to our Customers. Our village management are always present and accountable, ensuring there is no hierarchy and all Residents have direct and personal contact with us.

Growth through Partnerships

We believe that great communities evolve out of great partnerships. Working with and listening to our Customers and then learning from and responding to their experiences in our villages is essential to our success. We form close relationships with our local communities and authorities so that we make the most of local features and facilities. Our focus is on partnering with landowners, be it individuals or not-for-profit community organisations, to maximise the potential returns from their holdings and further the social missions they may represent.

It is this all-encompassing approach to partnerships that has enabled us to create our award-winning villages.
